Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting

Large publicly-traded Real Estate company located in West LA is looking for a Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting.

Responsibilities include:

• Leadership and supervision of the monthly accounting close and monthly and quarterly reporting for corporate level areas including cash and cash management, debt and capital transactions, corporate general and administrative expenses.
• Training and supervision of the corporate accounting team composed of 2-3 direct reports
• Work collaboratively with other groups on the accounting team including financial reporting, operations accounting and development accounting in order to meet monthly and quarter end reporting deadlines and objectives.
• Analyze and evaluate corporate level areas
• Oversight and review of the daily cash reporting process including distribution to members of senior and executive management on a daily basis.
• Work closely with corporate finance team on overall company cash management and account management.
• Review of journal entries, bank reconciliations and quarterly balance sheet fluctuation analysis.
• Play a key role in implementation of new treasury management system in near future.
• Supervision of debt and capital transaction accounting and reporting processes.
• Review and analysis of monthly and quarterly financial statement variance analysis of all debt and capital related balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Review and management of journal entries, monthly summary of outstanding debt, account reconciliations and interest trends.
• Work collaboratively with the financial reporting team to evaluate, analyze and record new debt and capital transactions and transaction structures.
• Manage the accounting of Line of Credit borrowing activities including debt draws / repayments, interest and facility fee calculations and payments.
• Primary accounting contact with 3rd party debt valuation consultants for SEC fair value disclosures and serve as a member of the Company’s fair value committee.
• Ownership and review of debt related disclosures in SEC filings including financial statements and MD&A.
• Management of budgeting, forecasting accounting and reporting including working closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Accounting Officer.
• Manage annual budgeting and monthly forecast process, working closely with company leadership across numerous departments.
• Review and analyze monthly accruals, expenses, trends, journal entries and reconciliations including budget and forecast variance analysis.
• Develop new internal monthly reporting process to company department heads and make recommendations to management for cost savings, reporting deliverables and process efficiencies.
• Manage and prepare analyses for quarterly earnings/investor calls.
• Work with financial reporting team to evaluate any new accounting standards affecting costs.
• Manage annual budgeting and quarterly forecast process.
• Review of monthly journal entries and expense analyses ensuring proper preparation and detail review by direct reports.
• Company liaison for executive team on all things corporate.
• SEC Financial Reporting and Sarbanes Oxley
• Ownership of SOX-related compliance and controls all corporate accounting area including process narratives, control write ups and documentation and evaluation of any noted deficiencies.
• Work collaboratively with the financial reporting team in the preparation of disclosures and supplemental schedules for SEC filings and the company’s supplemental investor package.
• Work with external independent auditor for corporate accounting areas
• Coordination and distribution of monthly, quarterly and annual accounting group close calendars.
• Special projects including, but not limited to, potential implementation of new accounting software, efficiency and automation initiatives, adoption of new accounting standards.
• Other duties as directed including management of various government / US census forms and data requests


Requirements include:

• 5 to 8 years relevant accounting experience, public accounting a plus.
• Strong accounting skills and knowledge of US GAAP.
• Self-directed and motivated, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a focus on continuous improvement.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills; able to mentor staff for future growth and provide results under tight deadlines.
• Ability to develop strong relationships with accounting leadership and senior management.
• Prior Real Estate experience and background in Yardi are a plus.
