Growing, publicly-traded $10B Real Estate company, focused on acquiring, developing and managing real estate assets in commercial markets, is currently seeking an Internal Reporting & Operations Accountant.

This newly-created position reports to the Manger of Joint Venture Accounting and Reporting.

Responsibilities include:

• Prepare quarterly financial reporting packages with a reconciliation to IFRS for joint venture partner. The packages include income statement, balance sheet and statement of equity.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages on assigned properties. The packages include analysis and supporting schedules of balance sheet accounts and explanation of significant variances in income statement accounts.
• Responsible for the general ledgers for assigned properties, including monthly journal entries, income and expense accruals, expense recovery true-ups and GAAP adjustments, such as deferred income.
• Assist with the annual budget and monthly/quarterly forecast process. Participate and provide input in budget review meetings.
• Prepare monthly management fee calculations, cash balances, waterfall calculations for the joint ventures.
• Prepare monthly minority interest and depreciation calculations for the joint venture properties.
• Prepare quarterly schedules of joint venture and SUB-REIT budget analysis and related party schedules for the joint venture properties.
• Assist with the annual audit of the stand-alone financials for the joint ventures.
• Prepare quarterly balance sheet variance explanations.
• Prepare monthly CAM true up accruals, and preliminary and annual CAM Reconciliations for designated properties. Ensure completion within timeline established by Senior Management.
• Review lease abstracts to ensure straight line rent is calculated correctly.
• Assist Manager, Operations Accounting with Tenant CAM Audits and A/R inquiries.
• Assist Senior Director, Internal Reporting or Manager, Joint Venture Accounting and Reporting with other special accounting projects as necessary.
• Understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts and lease administration functions of commercial real estate.
• Ensure any analysis / work product is accurate, thorough and neat.
• Effectively work and communicate with other members of the Company to ensure established deadlines are being met in an efficient manner.

Requirements include:

• 2+ years real estate accounting experience with a minimum of 500,000 square feet of office, mixed use or retail portfolios.
• REIT experience preferred.
• Must have experience in preparing property level financial statements, operating budgets, CAM reconciliations (FSG & NNN), financial reports, straight line rent calculations, monthly variance reports, A/P & A/R.
• Must have experience in financial analysis for third party investors.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and property management accounting software. Yardi experience is preferred.
• Must be self-directed, motivated and logical in problem solving; well organized with attention to detail; follow through with assignments; possess strong analytical skills; and be able to communicate effectively with coworkers both verbally and through written communications.

A CPA is required for this role.
