Senior Associate, Tax

Leading global private investment management firm, providing services for pension funds, endowments and foundations, is seeking a Senior Associate for their Tax department.

This role will focus on private equity taxation issues, supporting quarterly financial reporting and various ad-hoc matters. The Senior Tax Associate will report to the Vice President of Operations.

The funds are generally organized as limited partnerships and have a significant non-US investor base. Assets under management have grown from $1 billion in 2000 to over $4 billion today. This growth has been managed by adding additional staff members and by upgrading systems to keep pace with the volume of data.

Responsibilities include:

• Lead tax reporting and filing efforts for a high-volume operations environment
• Manage and implement all federal and state tax compliance and planning
• Ensure all required tax returns are timely and correctly filed (e.g. 1065, 1042, 1120F, 8804/8805, etc.)
• Monitor tax balances with various state and federal jurisdictions and resolve as appropriate
• Monitor investor tax withholdings with various state and federal jurisdictions and resolve as appropriate
• Manage and implement FATCA effort for the funds
• Assist in tax-related support in the annual audit process
• Assist with and review preparation of tax information in quarterly financial statements and investor reports
• Respond to or coordinate investor and investment tax queries
• Assist with special projects and management initiatives

Requirements include:

• Strong tax background with 4 – 7 years of relevant experience in investment management / limited partnerships
• Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
• Good organizational and problem-solving skills
• Relevant experience in private equity funds and fund of funds
• CPA license (active or inactive) or CPA candidate preferred
• Masters in Taxation preferred
• Public accounting background including Big 4 exposure
• Some financial statement audit or reporting experience
