Fund Accountant

Leading private equity and investment firm, targeting software and technology-enabled services, has an opening for a Fund Accountant. This role is open due to growth at the company.

This is a great opportunity for someone currently in public accounting who wants to learn fund accounting and become well-versed with systems.

Responsibilities include:

• Review and reconcile transactions by performing cash and asset reconciliations.
• Maintain and update fund sub-ledgers and general ledgers on a daily, monthly and quarterly basis.
• Calculate management fees, interest, PIK, OID and process corporate actions.
• Calculate capital calls and distributions and prepare investor capital call/distribution letters/statements.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly closing accounting packages.
• Prepare quarterly financial and investor capital account statements.
• Maintain investor communication tracking and investor ledgers.
• Work on annual audit and tax work internally and with external accountants.
• Review investment allocations for consistency with allocation policy.
• Review portfolio for compliance with LPA and investor side letters.
• Review select portfolio company agreements and obtain a full understanding of the entity in order to be more effective in the record keeping, accounting and tax reporting (K-1s) at year-end.
• Obtain quotes and calculate averages for investment valuations.
• Review valuations including comparable comp analysis, M&A comp analysis, discounted cash flow calculations.
• Bridge the work between the investment staff and the independent third party valuation providers.
• Work with investment staff to maintain a central database instrumental to reporting of portfolio company data.
• Prepare investor required analysis and reporting requests.
• Calculate and perform analysis of various fund benchmarks including portfolio limitations, cash utilization, liquidity, projections and other reporting.

Requirements include:

• 1 – 3 years in public accounting and 1 – 3 years investment management accounting preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with incredible attention to detail and commitment to quality are necessary.
• Ability to work under pressure in a deadline oriented environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Solid interpersonal skills.
• Computer system and general ledger experience (Advent Geneva a plus).

A CPA license is a plus for this role.
